They say writing can be therapeutic. I have said for a long time I should start some sort of blog. In fact I have been saying that for longer then blogs have existed. When I was much younger I used to say I should keep a journal. This will be my attempt to throw random words/thoughts/ideas/suggestions onto a page and see if it takes some conformed shape. Maybe then i'll share it with people I know as a sort of window into the insanity that can be my brain from time to time. Eventually i'd love to have my thought/writing process to conform to something coherent that I can turn into a script. Being a movie lover 'I should write something, a script perhaps' was the evolution of 'I'm going to write a journal' so eventually I will do that. I'm feel that I'm a bit of a student of pop culture movies over the past 15-20 years, so all i need is the seed for my opus... (maybe i'll throw at least one random movie quote into each post, just for fun).
Anyway, todays post is an introduction to what I'm doing in this space, but the first topic should be music. Does anyone else not listen to music all the time? You should. There is today's suggestion. I've read that music is demonstrated to have a positive effect on mood. I always said I should have music on everyday. I'm always in a better mood as a result. Hell, my tenants can leave garbage out that the raccoons can get at and I'm not really that annoyed. Anyway, I've been in my apartment a couple of months and finally got some speakers, so now music will be on all time. I've got my digital channels (which are down. thanks. rogers), my harddrive of music and now grooveshark.com, the great online repository of free music that you can stream. So now I have literally the choice to listen to anything thats ever been written/produced. As long as the internet stays up (thanks, rogers!). I like having the laptop streaming wirelessly. Theres just something cool about being surrounded by music that is coming from my computer without having wires run all around the apartment. Now to blast my favourite song of all time. Nina Simone's version of Sinnerman...
and there goes the wireless. maybe i'll have to get a cord for backup...
Anyway, its late, so that'll be the first post.
